While I concur that adding to and moving parts of the YouTube layout would be very nice for this script, those would have to come later.
Performance-wise this script edits the css on script load, making the performance impact absolutely minimal. Design-wise I would like to think this is a reasonable compromise between the Twitch design and the current YouTube design, which should, and I hope, would maintain better compatibility with YouTube even without constant updating.
Compatibility with various devices and browsers has yet to be tested explicitly.
