Numbers Google search results in the format M.N to show the result number. N counts up from 1 to 10, after that M is incremented by 1 and N starts over at 1. For example, result eleven is labeled 2.1, result fifty is labeled 5.10, and results one through ten are simply labeled 1,2,3...10. Why would you want to do this? Well if you change your search settings to 100 per page then this script will show you what page number and result number a result would have if the default of 10 results per page was still in effect (almost, sometimes Google returns less than 10 results on the first page).

Caveats
*Only mturk workers will probably find this sort of labelling useful.

*For best results, turn off Google Instant and increase the number of results per page. Click the gear>Search Settings>Never show instant results. Then move the "Results per page" slider.

*With Google Instant turned on this script doesn't work after the first page.

*Google returns slightly different results based on the number of results per page setting. For example if you set 20 results per page and compare those results to what you get when you set 10 results per page you might find that Google threw in an extra link at the beginning of page 2.
